Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

The Queens College of Flushing, New York, has obtained approval from the American Bar Association for its certificate program in paralegal studies.

Enrolment Requirements

In order to seek entry into the certificate program, you must have 60 college credits, out of which, 18 should be in liberal arts subjects covering three disciplines. In addition to this, you need to be a bachelor or associate in arts or have undertaken an English composition course at college level. If not, then you will have to take a writing proficiency test before the commencement of certificate program classes.

As per the guidelines of the American Bar association, you can register only for two courses without the certificate program. In case you take extra courses, they will not be counted in fulfilling your certificate program requirements.

Completion Requirements

In order to complete the certificate program successfully, you must finish 12 paralegal courses, out of which 5 are compulsory and 7 are electives. Your attendance should be 80 per cent in all the classes. You should earn at least a C grade in all courses. If you are below C grade, you will be put under probation and will not be eligible to register for extra courses until you improve your grade.

Its a lot of hard work at Queens College. But, the rewards of being a paralegal are remarkable.
