The LaGuardia Community College at Long Island City, New York has an Accounting and Managerial Studies Department which offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies. The Paralegal Studies program at LaGuardia is approved by the American Bar Association.

The Paralegal Studies program has certain objectives. It aims to provide students with the necessary information and practical knowledge to prepare them for entry-level paralegal positions. It is designed to prepare students for a four-year college. It also aims to give students the perfect base for a successful career.

The job responsibilities of a paralegal include performing a number of legal tasks under the supervision of a lawyer. A paralegal assists the lawyer by doing a number of tasks that are the responsibility of the lawyer. A paralegal conducts legal research, online as well as manual, drafts legal documents like deeds, wills and contracts, interviews clients and analyzes facts. Paralegals mainly work in private law firms but there are plenty of other organizations that require them in their legal departments, such as insurance companies and government agencies, including the District Attorney’s office.

The course at LaGuardia Community College has a balance of liberal arts classes and legal specialty classes. The internship program provides students practical experience that helps them in their career. The faculty consists of practicing lawyers who give in-depth information about the profession as a whole.
