Description
The University of San Diego was founded in the state of California in 1949. Starting as a local college with just 50 students, the university currently accommodates over 7000 students and offers more than 60 doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees. The university has close ties with the Roman Catholic Church and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The university also has a number of active programs as a part of its Center for Community-Service Learning. These programs deal with environmental issues, literacy campaigns and AIDS awareness seminars. Academically, the university offers a wide range of degree programs in subjects like business administration, engineering and arts and sciences. The University of San Diego also offers a paralegal program for students interested in becoming professional paralegals or legal assistants. Within the paralegal program, students can choose from a day specialist program, extended day specialist program, evening generalist program and evening business practices program. These specialized programs are designed to fit the needs of students who are employed full-time or who are looking for an intensive short-term course. The paralegal program is approved by the American Bar Association and focuses on teaching both the fundamentals of the legal system as well as law office management skills. The university conducts seminars and also provides job placement guidance on graduation.
