Description
The University of Louisville was established in the state of Kentucky in 1798. It holds accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is the home to one of the best medical research facilities in the United States, with a number of international innovations to its name. The university currently caters to the academic needs of over 15000 students. Besides an array of postgraduate and undergraduate courses, the University of Louisville offers a paralegal studies program which is approved by the American Bar Association and is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education. Students who are looking to establish a career as a paralegal or legal assistant can opt for a bachelor's degree course in paralegal studies. The paralegal studies program will cover subjects such as the legal system and the responsibilities of paralegals, which includes understanding the procedures of the judicial system. Students will also learn about legal writing and research, case law analysis and how to use the legal library system. The course also covers advanced aspects of legal writing, such as the drafting and formatting of torts, contracts and wills. Students will learn the various aspects of litigation, criminal law and procedure, family law, real estate and property law, consumer law and insurance laws. The course will also cover aspects such as worker's compensation and social security issues, business organizations and corporations, environmental law, healthcare laws and estate planning. Students will also undergo an internship in a professional legal setting to gain practical experience of the paralegal field and learn how legal assistants operate on a day to day basis.
