Description
The University of La Verne was founded in 1891 in the state of California. It offers a number of undergraduate, master’s and professional courses on a wide variety of subjects. The university has a specialized regional campus administration to cater to the academic needs of working professionals. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools The University of La Verne offers a paralegal studies program for students who are looking to building a career as either paralegals or legal assistants. The program is approved by the American Bar Association and offers both a bachelor's degree program as well as a certificate course in paralegal studies. The course prepares students by developing their analytical skills as well as their communication skills. Students will become familiar with the workings of the legal system as well as the functioning of a law office. Computer skills and office management techniques are taught alongside fundamentals of the legal system. The paralegal studies course covers subjects which include American legal studies and the rudiments of legal writing and research. Students will also learn how to organize and maintain records and case files pertaining to legal matters. Students will learn how to draft torts and contracts as well as various aspects of litigation. The course also covers real estate and property laws, criminal law and procedures as well as immigration law. Students will be taught business organization and the legal aspects of business transactions. At the end of the course, students will undergo an internship with a professional attorney to gain practical experience.
