Description
The University of California-San Diego was founded in the state of California in the year 1960 and caters to both undergraduate and post graduate students. It is currently ranked as one of the top ten universities in the country with a faculty of over 1000. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The extension of the University of California-San Diego offers a paralegal certificate course for students who are interested in opting for a career as a legal assistant or a paralegal. The course focuses on teaching students about legal theory and the ethics and responsibilities of a professional paralegal. The course has been approved by the American Bar Association. The paralegal certificate course covers a number of subjects, including legal communications and an introduction to the legal system and how it operates. Students will learn the applications of both business law and computer skills and how they are incorporated in a legal environment. The course will also cover practice and procedures, civil litigation, evidence law and legal research and analysis. Students will learn how to specialize in finding and organizing information relating to case files. Students will also learn about administrative law and procedure, bankruptcy and immigration laws, alternative dispute resolutions, intellectual property laws, corporate and criminal law, computer and software law, domestic relations law and real estate laws. Students will learn the specifics of tort laws, urban planning and development laws, mergers and acquisitions as well as employment laws which relate to the paralegal profession in particular.
