Description
Truckee Meadows Community College is located in the state of Nevada and was founded in 1979. It is accredited from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The college currently offers over fifty certificate and degree courses in an extended campus that covers 40 sites across the county. Classes are available on a flexible schedule with online, weekend and evening class options available. Support services like tutoring and job placement guidance are also available. Truckee Meadows Community College has the only paralegal/law program in the state of Nevada that has been approved by the American Bar Association. For students looking to pursue careers as paralegals or legal assistants, the college provides a number of courses and programs designed to equip students to deal with the challenges of working with the legal system. Paralegal and legal assistant courses will develop skills related to research, organization and analysis. Truckee Meadows Community College also offers its students the use of Westlaw Online, a valuable resource for legal research. Legal assistant and paralegal training covers subjects like the fundamentals of law, functions and responsibilities of a legal assistant or paralegal, ethics and liabilities, property laws, landlord/tenant laws, foreclosures and deeds of trust. Students will also learn about torts, contracts, case analysis and procedural history, civil and criminal procedures, bankruptcy, family law, business structures, legal writing and research and probate procedures. Paralegal and legal assistant training will also cover legal office procedure and practice, civil evidence, legal office basics and field experience under the supervision of an attorney.
