Southwest Tennessee Community College, in line with its endeavor to impart effective teaching in various disciplines offers the Paralegal Studies Program, which trains its students to begin their career as Paralegals / Legal Assistants. Program Details The Paralegal Studies Program at the Southwest Tennessee Community College is an Associate of Applied Science Degree curriculum available in four concentrations viz., Real Estate, Corporate & Banking, Litigation and General Concentration. The course content varies with the concentration opted. For instance, the Real Estate Concentration has courses like Real Estate Law and Contract Law or Probate Law. The Corporate & Banking Concentration’s course content includes Corporate Law. Torts and Criminal law & Procedures or Evidence are a part of Litigation Concentration and the General module includes various courses of which three must be completed. An enrolment in the above-mentioned concentrations also renders an opportunity to the qualified lot to be a part of internship programs or co-op schedules. The Cooperative Education or the Co-op pattern of learning combines both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching. Added Advantage Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Paralegal Studies Program extends an added advantage to its enrollees wherein the students can transfer to the University of Memphis under an articulation agreement and pursue a four-year degree program in Paralegal in the University College. The admission process to the program is quite simple and requires an official copy of the high school / GED scores.
