Description
Oakland Community College has the distinction of being the largest community college in the State of Michigan. It was established in 1964 and is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges. It has more than 50,000 students and offers than 100 associate's degree programs and about 45 certificate programs. Most of its 286 full-time faculty members have advanced degrees in their respective fields of study. It operates from five campuses located in Auburn Hills, Farmington Hills, Royal Oak, Southfield and Waterford. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Oakland Community College offers a very popular Paralegal program that leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree. The major requirement include courses such as Legal Research I, Litigation, Legal Research II, Substantive Law, Trial Preparation, Preparation of Evidence ,Special Topics and the required supportive courses include Personal Computer Productivity Tools Business Law I, Business Law II , Composition I, Composition II, Interpersonal Communication or Foundations of Speech as well as the recommended electives such as Introduction to Legal Office Environment, Introduction to Business, and Paralegal Internship. It also offers a Post-Bachelor Degree Professional Paralegal Certificate which is designed for those with a prior degree. The curriculum includes Personal Computer Productivity Tools, Business Law I, Business Law II, Legal Research I, Litigation, Legal Research II, Substantive Law, Trial Preparation, Preparation of Evidence or Special Topics, Introduction to Legal Office Environment, Introduction to Business, and Paralegal Internship. Students can get financial aid such as Federal and State aid programs in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
