Description
Northern Essex Community College offers more than 70 programs that can lead up to an associate's degree or a certificate. Many students find it more convenient to transfer to a four year college after having completed the first two years earning an associate's degree. Programs are offered during the day, nights, weekends as well as online. The faculty is comprised of trained professionals such as practicing attorneys who are experienced and dedicated. The programs in Paralegal Studies are members of the American Association for Paralegal Education and the Massachusetts Paralegal Association. It offers an associate in science degree as well as a certificate program in Paralegal Studies that is approved by the American Bar Association. Students of the associate's degree in Paralegal studies are given a liberal arts education with concentration in Paralegal studies. They are offered two options: a career option for those who wish to seek employment; and a Transfer option for those who wish to seek a transfer to a four-year institution. Financial aid is available to deserving students. The curriculum includes programs such as English Composition I, English Composition II, Introduction to American Law, Civil Rights and Liberties, Introduction to Paralegalism, Legal Research and Writing I, Legal Research and Writing II, Litigation, Paralegal Practicum, Practical Logic, Paralegal Electives, Behavioral Science Elective, Computer Elective, Math Elective, Science Elective, Liberal Arts Elective, Free Elective, Real Estate Law, Wills, Estates and Trusts, Corporate Law, Family Law, Tort Law, and Computer Applications in Law. Boston University, Bridgewater State College, Fitchburg State College, Keene State College, Plymouth State University, Salem State College, Southern New Hampshire University, Springfield College, Suffolk University, UMASS Boston, University of New Hampshire and Westfield State College are some of the institutions that students may transfer to.
