Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College was established in 1992 when the Mattatuck Community College and Waterbury State Technical College merged. It offers more than 100 associate degree and credit certificate programs. It offers an associate's degree as well as a certificate in Legal assistant program and is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education. The faculty members are experienced professionals who are well qualified and dedicated. Financial aid is also available to the deserving candidates including federal and state aid packages such as loans, grants, scholarships etc. The curriculum for the associate's degree includes •Composition •Introduction to Paralegalism •American Government or U.S. History •Introduction to Communication •Science or Lab Science •Mathematics •Introduction to Software Applications •Literature and Composition •Real Estate Practice • Legal Research & Writing • Business Law I •Advanced Legal Research and Writing • Litigation, General Psychology I •Social Science, Business Law II •Arts and Humanities • Legal Assistant Program • Probate Practice and Estate Administration • Cooperative Education Work Experience, • Business elective approved by coordinator The electives included subjects like: •Family Law •Criminal Procedure • Advanced Legal Issues Seminar and Bankruptcy Law The Legal Studies Certificate Program consists of eight credit courses including: •Introduction to Paralegalism • Legal Research & Writing Real Estate Practice • Advanced Legal Research & Writing • Probate Practice & Estate Administration • Litigation and either 2 of the following Family Law • Criminal Procedure • Advanced Legal Issues Seminar • Bankruptcy Law.
