Midlands Technical College was established in the year 1969 and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. It offers a variety of programs that can lead to associate degrees, diplomas and/or certificates. Its Paralegal program is approved by the American Bar Association. It offers an associate's degree in Paralegal studies that is offered in both of its campuses. Individuals who wish to serve as legal assistants to attorneys take up paralegal studies. They have to aid them by preparing legal documents, conducting research and analyzing the information that has been collected and also interview clients etc. Students have to have basic typing skills The curriculum of the Associate in Public Service [Paralegal studies] includes courses English Composition I, English Composition II, Contemporary Mathematics, General Psychology, Public Speaking, Approved Humanities Course, Torts, Business Law I, Business Law II, Legal Bibliography, Introduction to Law and Ethics, Civil Litigation I, Family Law, Property Law, Wills, Trusts and Probate, Law Practice Workshop, Microcomputer Word Processing, Introduction to Computers, Workers’ Compensation, Bankruptcy Law, Intellectual Property Law, Legal Writing, Criminal Law, Law Office Management, Title Examination Procedures I and Special Projects for Paralegals. Financial aid is available for the students such as federal and state grants, loans, scholarships etc. The faculty members are professionally trained experts who are dedicated and committed.
