Description
Mercer County Community College was established in 1966 and is accredited and approved by the MSACS as well as being authorized by the State of New Jersey's Commission on Higher Education to award associate degrees. The institution offers about 64 degree programs and nearly 48 credit certificate programs. It has more than 13000 students and offers a dual admission program with which students can transfer to six institutions; Rutgers, Rider, The College of New Jersey, Montclair, NJIT and Thomas Edison. Mercer County Community College offers a Certificate of Proficiency in Paralegal studies and only those students who have earned an associate's or Bachelor's degree are eligible. If the students have an associate degree in science or applied science, they must have at least 18 credits of approved general education coursework in that prior degree. They will have to opt for an internship in order to graduate. The curriculum includes courses such as Role of the Paralegal, Civil Litigation I, Word Processing Concepts and Applications, Civil Litigation II, Legal Research and Writing, Civil Litigation III, Field Experience / Paralegal. Students who are not adept at typing at a rate of at least 35 words per minute must enroll in OST 111, which is a prerequisite for OST 219. Students can choose from approved electives: LEG 143, 201, 203, 206, 207; BUS 107, 108. ENG 101 or its equivalent is a prerequisite for LEG 133. The program is offered part as well as full-time and classes are conducted during the day, evening, weekend and during. The faculty members are well trained experts in their respective fields.
