Description

Marywood University was founded in 1915 and was granted university status in 1997. It is fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It is a Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It offers Legal Assistant Programs that have been fully approved by the American Bar Association. Its Paralegal Programs on offer include a Bachelor's Degree Program, an Associate's Degree Program and a Post-Graduate Diploma Program.

The Legal Assistant Diploma consists of 24 course credits with curriculum such as Introduction to the Legal System, Legal Research, Legal Writing, General Litigation, General Litigation II, Legal Ethics, and Legal Internship. The Electives include Business Law, Estates and Trusts, Real Estate Law, Interviewing and Counseling, Consumer Law, Family Law, Criminal Law & Procedure, Torts, Workmen's Comp Law, Federal Taxation, Bankruptcy Law, Administrative Law, Computer Applications, Taxation of Business Entities, Advanced Legal Research, and Legal Assistant Seminar.

The Legal Assistant Associate Degree Program comprises of 30 credits with Liberal Arts Requirements 33 credits. The curriculum includes Introduction to the Legal System, Legal Research, Legal Writing, General Litigation I, General Litigation II, Legal Ethics, Legal Assistant Seminar, Legal Internship. The Electives include Legal Specialty Courses such as Estates and Trusts, Real Estate Law, Family Law, Torts, Workmen's Comp Law, and Advanced Legal Research as well as several Non-Legal Specialty Courses such as Business Law, Interviewing and Counseling, Consumer Law, Criminal Law & Procedure, Federal Taxation, Bankruptcy Law, Administrative Law, Computer Applications, and Taxation of Bus Entities.

The Baccalaureate Degree Program in Legal Assistant comprises of 36 credits and includes Introduction to the Legal System, Legal Research, Legal Writing, General Litigation, General Litigation II, Interviewing and Counseling, Constitutional Law II, Legal Ethics, Torts, Computer Applications, Legal Assistant Seminar, and a Legal Internship. The Legal Specialty Courses include Estates and Trusts, Real Estate Law, Family Law, Workmen's Comp Law, Advanced Legal Research and the Non-Legal Specialty Courses include Accounting I, Accounting II, Business Law, Consumer Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Federal Taxation, Bankruptcy Law, Administrative Law, Taxation of Business Entities, and Social Sciences courses such as Principles of Economics I, Principles of Economics II, History Elective, Constitutional Law I, American Government & Politics, State & Local Government, Competing Perspectives in Amer.
