Herzing College, Madison, founded in the year 1965, has the reputation of being the nation's oldest electronics institutions. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, it has six campuses in the U.S. in Atlanta, Birmingham, Madison, Minneapolis Drafting School, Lakeland Medical Dental Academy, New Orleans and Orlando as well as five campuses in Canada.

Herzing College offers an Associate of Science degree in Legal Assisting/Paralegal (ASLAP). It is a 4 semester program that prepares the student entering into the fields of Legal Assisting and Paralegal. A minimum of 63 semester credit hours are required for graduation. Students must also posses a keyboarding speed of minimum 40 net words per minute by the end of their program. This is a must if they wish to qualify for the Associate of Science in Legal Assisting/Paralegal degree. This program is also available online making it even more convenient for students who wish to have more flexibility.

Paralegals or legal assistants perform a variety of task such as aiding attorneys in preparing for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. They also investigate facts of cases and identify appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles that are relevant to cases they work on. They also aid in drafting documents such as tax returns, planning estates, employee contracts, shareholder agreements, stock-option plans, employee benefit plans, contracts, mortgages, separation agreements, and trust instruments.
