Over a hundred and fifty years ago, Methodist pioneers founded the Hamline University which was the first institution of higher education in the state of Minnesota. At present the university has an undergraduate college, law school and graduate schools. Over 4000 students enroll every year. It is located in Saint Paul and offers degree programs and courses in Minneapolis as well. Hamline University has a Paralegal Certificate Program and a Post-Baccalaureate Paralegal Certificate program. The programs are designed to prepare students become top level professional paralegals. You can join the program only if you hold a four-year degree and you wish to further enhance your skills and career opportunities. The faculty comprises practicing lawyers and paralegals as well as School of Law professors who provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subject. The paralegal program is designed for students to learn all aspects of law. The course includes topics like Litigation and Trial Practice, Legal Research and Writing, Law of Real Property and Bankruptcy. Students receive practical experience through the Practicum program where they attend guest lectures of renowned lawyers and also participate in an internship under a paralegal. The university has a career development center where they assist students in their search for employment. The Paralegal Certificate program is approved by the American Bar Association and the university is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education.
