Description

El Camino College was established in the year 1947 and it is a member of the Community College League of California. It is a public two-year community college and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It has about 850 full-time and part-time instructors and they are well qualified in their respective fields of study. It has more than 30,000 students enrolled in nearly 850 different programs. The college bookstore is available on campus ensuring that students get the required text books easily as well as avail of the services of a book buyback scheme. The college library has 120,000 volumes as well as several hundred newspapers and periodicals. Its financial aid office provides students with secure federal and state loans, grants and scholarships. Its placement ensures jobs for students.

El Camino College offers an Associate's degree as well as a Certificate of Competence in Paralegal Studies. These programs have been approved by the American Bar Association. The aim is to prepare students in such a way that they may apply the knowledge and the skills that they have gained and use it appropriately. They will be able to apply the theories and principles of law practically. They will gain the confidence to draft documents, conduct online legal research and manage the law office efficiently. They must be able to prepare for litigation, apply legal ethics, and utilize appropriate case management techniques. Student competence is tested regularly by conducting examinations and projects.

Students gain entry by completing the Introduction to the Legal Research course successfully. Students of the Certificate program need to have a degree in order to qualify for the program.
