Description
Delaware County Community College was established in 1967 and is located in the city of Media in Pennsylvania. It is an accredited college that offers Associate degree programs and certificates to the students of Delaware and Chester counties. The college has two campuses at Downingtown and Marple; three centers and several other locations across each county of Delaware and Chester county. There are two legal assistant training programs available at Delaware County Community College. They are the Associate degree in Paralegal Studies and the Certificate of Proficiency. The certificate in Paralegal Studies is intended to train a generalist paralegal. Both programs are approved by the American Bar Association. These paralegal courses of Delaware County Community College train students to conduct legal research, prepare written case memoranda, prepare legal arguments and pleadings, investigate the facts of a case, assist an attorney during a trial, draft contracts and maintain files of all legal work. Students of the Certificate Program need to have a previous Associate or Bachelors degree to be admitted to the 30 credit hour course. After completion of these courses, graduates are likely to find employment as paralegals under the direction of attorneys at law firms, legal departments of large corporations, insurance companies, title companies and governmental agencies. Students of the Associate in Science degree may also transfer to a four year baccalaureate program depending on the courses they have chosen.
