Description
Cuyamaca College is based in the city of El Cajon in California, USA. The college was established in 1978 and offers students a choice of around 49 degree programs and 46 certificates. Presently, there are more than 8,000 students enrolled at the college. Cuyamaca College is one of two colleges that serve the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. The paralegal course offered by Cuyamaca College is a two-year Associate in Science degree program where students are taught the skills needed for a variety of tasks performed by a legal assistant in a private law firm, corporation or governmental agency. Paralegals or Legal Assistants work under the supervision of an attorney doing routine tasks like drafting legal documents, research and interviewing witnesses. The Paralegal Associate degree of Cuyamaca College is awarded when students complete major course requirements as well as general education requirements. Core Requirements consist of 18 units plus an internship. However, students who have previous experience working in a law office need not do the internship. Paralegal electives consist of 24-27 units. This paralegal course is approved by the American Bar Association. This means that credits earned are fully transferable to a four-year college degree. A committee that consists of judges, attorneys and practicing paralegals periodically reviews the curriculum to ensure cutting edge content. This ensures that graduates from Cuyamaca College find employment easily.
