Description
Columbus State Community College is sited in the city of Columbus in Ohio, USA. It started operations in 1963 with 67 students. Today, there are more than 23,000 students enrolled in various two-year programs of the college. These programs may be pursued through regular classroom training as well as through online classes and distance education programs. The college is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Programs offered by the legal studies department at Columbus State Community College include an Associate of Applied Science degree in Legal Assisting, an Associate of Technical Studies degree in Legal Medical Consulting and a Departmental Certificate in Workers’ Compensation. The Associate Degree in Legal Assisting is a paralegal program which is approved by the American Bar Association. This Associate degree is a 101 credit hour program consisting of 22 quarter hours of general education, 24 hours of basic studies and 55 quarter hours of Legal Assisting technical studies. The main goal of the paralegal course at Columbus State Community College is to introduce students to the fundamentals of legal research and production of legal documents. After completing the course, students are put through an internship program. A full time student usually completes the degree program in around two years while part time students get through within three to four years. Later on, credits may be transferred to a four-year baccalaureate degree at a college of your choice.
