Description
Coastline Community College can be found in the city of Fountain Valley, California. It was founded in 1976 and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college does not have a regular campus. Courses are offered through around 50 locations in the district like high schools, shopping malls and banks. The Paralegal Studies Program of Coastline Community College is approved by the American Bar Association. It trains students to work as legal assistants under the supervision of an attorney. Paralegals work in law firms and other legal offices. Though they may deal with clients regularly as part of their job they are not attorneys. This is not a pre-law program. Students are required to attend a paralegal orientation or counseling session and complete the English and math placement testing and General Education requirements prior to entering any course with a "LAW" designation. Students must also gain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and prove they are proficient in computers. The paralegal studies program offered by Coastline Community College leads to an Associate of Arts degree. If you have done paralegal studies course work at another institution, credits may be partially transferable if approved by the paralegal studies board. After completing the 60 unit program, students are awarded an associate in arts degree and a certificate of achievement in paralegal studies.
