Description
Albuquerque TVI is also known as the Central New Mexico Community College. It is the largest community college in the state and has been training students for the past forty years. Albuquerque TVI has campuses at five locations - Main Campus, Montoya Campus, South Valley Campus, Westside Campus and the CNM Workforce Training Center. This community college offers occupational training courses as well as associate degrees and certificates in a variety of fields like business, communication, humanities, health and law. The Legal Assistant Studies Program is one of the most sought after courses at the college. It is accredited by the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) of The Higher Learning Commission that is a commission of the North Central Association in Chicago. The Paralegal course for full time students is divided into five terms. Students need a minimum of 68 credits to earn their degree. Term 1 includes topics such as an introduction to paralegal studies, business organizations, torts and college writing. Later, students will have to study subjects such as American law and ethics, legal research and writing, civil and criminal litigation, wills, estates and constitutional law. The internship program of Albuquerque TVI requires students to perform a minimum of 150 hours of legal assistant assignments in legal environments. This internship is jointly supervised by TVI and the supervising attorney. Students in cooperative education programs will be paid by the cooperating firm and supervised by Albuquerque TVI and their employer.
